Polystyrene Scrap UAE: Proven Ways to Define Your Pricing

Polystyrene Scrap UAE: Proven Ways to Define Your Pricing
March 4, 2026 by Addison

Polystyrene Scrap UAE Price Guide

Polystyrene scrap prices in the UAE depend mainly on demand. Packaging recyclers and export buyers drive most of this demand. When buyers need more material, prices increase. When demand slows, prices drop.

PS scrap often sells at a better rate than mixed plastic waste. Post-industrial PS usually earns higher prices. It has uniform density and is easier to process. Buyers prefer clean and sorted material.

What Affects Polystyrene Scrap Prices?

Several simple factors affect PS scrap prices.

First, global oil prices matter. When oil prices rise, virgin plastic becomes expensive. As a result, many manufacturers switch to recycled PS. This pushes scrap prices higher.

Second, supply levels affect the market. When factories produce less scrap, availability drops. Lower supply often increases prices.

Third, export demand plays a big role. Countries like South Korea, China, and Turkey buy PS scrap for recycling. Strong export activity supports UAE prices.

In 2024–2025, prices changed often. Slower construction activity reduced demand. At the same time, shipping costs moved up and down. These changes caused price fluctuations.

Grade and Quality Matter

Buyers separate PS scrap by type before giving a price.

Clear PS usually sells at a higher rate. It produces better recycled pellets. Colored PS may sell for less.

Foam PS (EPS) also has lower net value. It must be densified before resale. This extra step adds cost.

Clean material always gets better offers. Consistent quality also helps sellers secure repeat buyers.

Why Understanding Price Trends Helps

When suppliers track the market, they make better decisions. They can sell during strong demand periods. They can also reduce storage time and holding costs.

Clear knowledge of pricing trends helps both buyers and sellers negotiate fair deals.
