PET plastic scrap comes from water bottles, food packaging, and industrial materials. Collection happens via government facilities, private waste collectors, and factories selling post-production PET waste.
Once gathered, the scrap is baled for efficient transport and sold to recyclers. At recycling yards in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and other Emirates, the material is sorted carefully. Labels, caps, and non-PET plastics are removed to ensure purity.
The clean PET is then crushed into flakes. Some buyers prefer unwashed flakes to clean them according to their own production needs. Flakes are eventually converted into granules, which are used to manufacture new bottles, packaging, and fibers.
